Beaches, sheltered coves, sublime creeks, pine forests, and a picturesque little marina with its sharp points: everything is there to make you spend a pleasant dive trip to Carry-le-Rouet, a charming tourist resort located about thirty minutes from Marseille. The Calanque des Eaux Salées is crossed by a century-old railway viaduct classified as a historical monument, in the middle of a pine forest in Aleppo. The Calanque des Pierres Tombées, located on the path of the Lizard, near the Pain de Sucre, offers magnificent turquoise and translucent waters, at the foot of ochre cliffs, sculpted by the sea spray. At the bottom of a rocky cove, Cap Rousset beach, frequented by families, is at the heart of the marine reserve, sheltered from winds and waves with an underwater path to explore by snorkeling.

On the diving side, the trips are adapted according to the weather. About twenty sites are accessible from Carry-le-Rouet, such as the Petit and Grand Mornas, the Chenal de l'Eveline or the Arche du Moulon, adapted to all levels of divers. The diving centers Plongée Passion Carry and Aqua Evasion also go to more remote diving spots, near Marseille, around the islands of Maïre, Jaïre, and Plane where there are some very nice wrecks. Walk underwater along the coastline. You will walk along a rocky bottom that looks like a slab. From time to time, blocks of stone emerge from the Posidonia meadow, at a depth of 10 to 15 meters. Between the green stems of this Posidonia are large nacres, some of which have been decimated by a terrible disease. This is the lung of the sea and the habitat of the fish that protect themselves by camouflaging themselves there. Other creatures such as sponges, ascidians, and gorgonians make their home on the rocks. Get close to the crevices, where octopuses and moray eels hide. Keep an eye on the sandy areas, where mimic animals such as bothus flatfish and sabellas are camouflaged.

The land relief continues underwater with drop offs such as the Tête de Chien, Frapao, or deeper, the Tombant de Méjean. Reserved for experienced divers, the Tombant du Planier is certainly one of the best sites in Carry-le-Rouet with its sumptuous colored gorgonians. A tangle of slabs, platforms, awaits you at Grosses Roches where you can observe scorpionfish, capons, lobsters, wrasses, and golden gobies. Take a look in the crevasses of the Faille or admire the walls of the small caves of the Rague à Sars, where octopus, lobsters, and Forkbeard have made their home.

Towards the east, a wreck, nicknamed the Barge de Niolon, or Barge à Clapets, lies overturned in 35 meters of water. It was used to transport rocks to fill in the dykes of the Côte Bleue ports. Nudibranchs live on their walls. Conger eels and moray eels are camouflaged in the holes. Near the Maïre and Planier islands of Marseille, those interested in the history of navigation in France will also be charmed by Le Chaouen, one of the most beautiful wrecks in Marseille, accessible from level 1, Le Liban, an ocean liner located at 36m, or Le Dalton, a cargo ship now covered in gorgonians, sponges and corals.

The diving center Plongée Passion Carry is located near the port of Carry-le-Rouet. Plongée Passion Carry is a small friendly structure that is open all year round. Patrick and Marlène and their team welcome you to premises fitted out for the comfort of divers with free WI-FI, hot showers, changing rooms and WC heated in winter. Coffee, tea, and freshwater are available. The FFESSM training courses at the Plongée Passion Carry diving center are aimed at adults, from baptism to level 4 with the final exam, as well as at children aged 8 to 14, from bronze to gold divers. The Plongée Passion Carry training center is approved for the reception of trainee instructors. The club Plongée Passion Carry Groups makes its facilities available to associations up to 40 divers with two boat rotations. Whether you come as a group or individually, you don't have to handle any equipment or blocks, either when loading and unloading the boat or when you leave the water. You rent new equipment here, some of which is renewed each season, and which is maintained and disinfected. The rental of the computer is offered for packages of 10 dives and for training courses. The Plongée Passion Carry shop also sells new and second-hand equipment, which is ideal for overhauling personal equipment. The diving center Aqua Evasion is located in Gignac la Nerthe. Run by Xavier and Laure Trubert, Aqua Evasion is open 7 days a week, including holidays, by appointment, from 8 am to 10 pm. The Aqua Evasion diving center is composed of a store, a high-performance inflation station for filling cylinders with quality air, a workshop for equipment maintenance, leakage tests as well as a test bench for regulators adjustments. The Aqua Evasion dive center offers training courses in a large classroom especially equipped for first aid. The boarding on the Aqua Evasion boat takes place at the port of Carry-le-Rouet, at the P. Malleville quay. The transfers of the divers and the equipment, of a duration of 16 minutes (distance 11 km) from Gignac to the port of Carry, are carried out with the vehicles of the center Aqua Evasion, respectively of 5 and 7 places. At the Aqua Evasion diving center, the 20-seater Lomac boat is ideal for families and groups, with or without the instructor on board. Aqua Evasion offers a wide range of diving sites around the harbor of Marseille with rocky bottoms, beautiful drop-offs, the Planier, the Frioul, the Elvine, and the numerous wrecks Chaouen, Dalton, Messerschmitt.
