Stop on the way from Marseille and La Ciotat, between Cap Canaille and Les Calanques, for a dive trip to Cassis: you will be seduced by this adorable village in an amphitheater nestled between the vineyards and the Mediterranean Sea. Let yourself be charmed by its small fishing port lined with ochre-colored houses, surrounded by terraces of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a pastis, a coffee, where you can taste delicious red mullet fillets. The cliffs here are the highest in Europe. There are hiking trails from where you can admire a panoramic view of the sea. Towards Marseille, long and narrow inlets enter between the steep limestone cliffs. The Calanques National Park protects this 11 km of coastline.
The sea is turquoise blue. It lazily licks the pebble beaches. This typical landscape of this region of France is breathtaking! The exceptional natural environment is also found underwater with dive sites offering a marine fauna typical of the Mediterranean. Go to the Cassis Calanques Plongée diving center so that beginners and more experienced divers can immerse themselves at the foot of the Calanques to take walks at different depths. Snorkelers discover the magic of the sea bed along the coastline. The best time to dive in Cassis is from April to November. You can also contact the Cassis tourist office to organize your holiday. The dive centers are closed during the winter. We advise you to take a 7mm wetsuit from April to June and 5.5mm from June to November.

Organizing a holiday in Cassis allows you to explore three diving areas, two of which are occasionally offered by local clubs. . The daily area explored by the dive shops of Cassis is located at a short distance from the port. You will discover the following dive sites. The Pointe Cacau is rocky scree falling to 25 meters, followed by a dizzying drop-off of 43 meters. Divers will discover three cannons. Castel Vieil appears as an extension of the terrestrial relief underwater. The cliff falls to 15 meters and forms a step; then, the drop-off descends to 40 meters. Beautiful gorgonians are to be observed.
The submerged cliff is hollowed out by a Coral Cave, with walls lined with beautiful red coral. Its interior ceiling is 12 meters high and its floor is 24 meters deep. The Eissadon is considered one of the beautiful dives of Cassis. The ceiling of this cave culminates inside at a depth of 12 meters, and its floor is at 24 meters. The Eissadon is a beautiful dive in Cassis. Divers discover a beautiful fault and tunnels. During the afternoon, the sun's rays pass through the crevices and create very nice plays of light. The dive at Cap Morgiou takes place along a drop-off to a step at a depth of 25 meters, followed by a drop-off of up to 50 meters. There are even car wrecks! You sometimes see the fin of a sunfish (Mola-mola) on the surface while the boats are sailing.
The exploration of offshore sites such as the Cassidaigne Lighthouse, the Vieille, the Bigue, is much awaited by divers as they require good weather. Drawn by the currents, with more transparent waters, these spots reserve you beautiful encounters. The Cassidaigne Lighthouse lies on a vast plateau made up of very uneven rocky bottoms with an underwater architecture full of volumes. You can make six different dives there. To see: school of sars, and groupers. On the Marseille side, you can access the very famous dive sites of Les Impériaux, the Grand Congloue, Pointe Caramassaigne, and the Moyadons. On the La Ciotat side, we dive the sites of Les Rosiers and La Pierre du Levant.
Others Activities
Stroll in the morning on the small fishing port of Cassis, when the colorful "points" arrive. Fishers sell scorpionfish and red mullets. Stroll around the Cassis market to find local specialties such as panisses, chichi fregis, tapenade, and anchovy.
Go to the pebbled beach of Bestouan and the sandy beach of the Great Sea, access the Cliffs of Soubeyranes, made up of white limestone, sandstone, and pudding (pebbles) from the Route des Crêtes for a magnificent view of the bay of Cassis.
To enjoy the coast, we recommend Anse du Corton and Anse de l'Arène, two superb pebble coves, or the creeks of En-Vau and Port-pin. Accessible by kayak, they offer a pretty sporting stroll in a dream setting.

Cassis Calanques Plongée

The Cassis Calanques diving school is located 20 meters from the port of Cassis, not far from Marseille, in the heart of the Calanques National Park. Cassis Calanques Plongée is open every day from mid-March to the end of December. The meeting point is at 8:30 am after coffee and at 2:00 pm after the siesta. In July and August, three outings per day are scheduled at 8:00 am, 10:00 am, and 2:30 pm.
The baptisms take place only in the afternoon. Every Thursday in summer, Cassis Calanques Plongée organizes twilight dives at 7 pm for autonomous divers who have level 2, at least. Have a nice time with a picnic and an aperitif in front of a beautiful sunset! The Cassis Calanques Plongée diving center welcomes individuals and groups from 6 to 28 people and offers ANMP, FFESSM, FSGT, SDI, and TDI training. Tek diving is possible with trimix and nitrox, the inflation station allowing all types of breathing gas mixtures.
You will embark on the Best-Ouan, a trawler with a capacity of 28 divers with a small cockpit and a huge front deck. Take advantage of the trips to admire the creeks. The diving sites extend from Marseille to La Ciotat, in front of the Calanques and the Cap Canaille. A small road leads to the village of Cassis, winding through Provence, between vineyards and pine trees, and you discover in the distance, at the bend in the road, the sparkling blue of the Mediterranean Sea!
