You will fall completely under the spell of this wonderful island, Bora-Bora, as the plane begins its descent to the airstrip!
8 km long and 5 km wide, the main island of Bora-Bora is surmounted by an extinct volcano, topped by a lush tropical forest, allowing you to enjoy beautiful walks, up to 700 m in altitude.
But above all, the island is surrounded by a magnificent lagoon which, itself, is surrounded by an immense coral reef with beyond, the Pacific Ocean.
Small motus (islets) with warm sandy beaches, Polynesian houses and clumps of coconut trees, including the one that belonged to the famous explorer Paul Emile Victor, can be seen.

Three marvelous bays with calm waters, Faanui, Hitiaa, and Povai with its two islets Toopua and Toopua-iti, open onto the main island where Vaitape, the chief town, is located.
But only the Teavanu pass, two kilometers wide, allow the passage for big boats between the turquoise lagoon and the dark blue ocean.

If you are a fan of stingrays, then diving in Bora Bora will bring you what you come for!Because here the stingrays (Fai) are declined in leopard stingrays (fai i'u), eagle stingrays (Faimanu) and birostris manta stingrays (fafapiti).Incredible but true, they are close relatives of sharks! Observe their gill slits on their belly.Anau is the most popular lagoon dive in Bora Bora because of the presence of these manta rays that seem to fly like birds, spreading their wings!Stay patiently motionless, without moving, in water that is heavily laden with particles, with little visibility.Slowly their silhouettes are taking shape, then they become clearer and clearer, and finally they pass close to the divers.Finally, be aware that other species of manta rays - such as himantura sp. and mobula tarapacana - are not observed in Bora Bora but in the Tuamotu, Gambier and Marquesas Islands.

A diving holiday in Bora Bora also allows you to explore Tapu Canyons and Tapu Nui located one kilometer from the pass, on the outer slope of the reef for a nice encounter with lemon and blacktip sharks, in the middle of schools of jacks and barracudas.The Grand Canyon is a channel whose bottom is lacerated by large canyons, swept by a regular current.Here you can observe flights of leopard rays and passages of white tip sharks.At the end of the dive, at shallow depths, you have fun exploring a magnificent coral garden colonized by clownfish, star tetrodons, and big napoleons. It borders a beautiful coral drop off at the foot of which a wide sandy channel with leopard ray passage extends.

Jump headlong into the Aquarium, a sumptuous natural swimming pool at 5 meters deep where the water is translucent. From the surface, you can see the surgeonfish, sergeant majors, and stingrays on the sandy bottom, where the sun's rays shimmer.South-east of Bora Bora, Tupitipiti presents a superb landscape of caves, faults with a drop-off that appears bottomless, on which a very beautiful fauna is fixed.One can only go there with good weather like in Muri Muri, a pelagic spot, where you can see grey sharks, white tip sharks, barracudas, and dog-tooth tuna.

You will visit Apoo only when there is no swell because this dive site, made up of caves, arches, is close to the reef where turtles stay.To the northwest of Bora Bora, Haapiti is a continuity of huge craters where small reef fauna, including lionfish, twirl around.
A diving stay in Bora Bora is ideal during the dry season between April and October. Avoid the rainy season between November and April. Water temperatures are between 26°C and 29°C depending on the season so a short or long 3mm wetsuit is very suitable.

From 1 August to 31 October, you can also go whale watching on the TopDive boat. This is a great time to see the whales blowing in the distance. Open all year round, 7 days a week, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., you embark every morning for a 2 dive trip and every afternoon for 1 dive. The night dive, which we highly recommend, is available on request. The Eleuthera Bora Diving Center offers FFESSM, ANMP/CEDIP, CMAS, and PADI courses with numerous introductory packages such as romantic dives for two, private or not, and discovery programs.
