Dive sites

Take a tour of the wrecks during your diving holidays in Tahiti! You will discover the steel remains of the Zélée, a former French gunboat, bombed by the German fleet in 1914, near the breakwater of the port of Papeete, between 20 and 30 meters deep.
It is colonized by paddle poles, yellow sweetlips, napoleons, and sometimes by a nurse shark. Narrow canyons are to be crossed on the side of the dike.
We also explore the wreck of the Catalina PBY-5A which had an accident at the landing at Raiatea in 1960 and which, towed to Tahiti, was sunk in 1962 at a depth of 20 meters, to be used as an artificial reef.

Not far away, the wreck of a wooden schooner, 45m long and dating from 1944, the Orohena, was scuttled in 1977 on a depth of 25m. She became an artificial reef full of fauna.
Stroll in the morning in the Vallée Blanche, with a moment of emotion in front of a stone tiki dedicated to the memory of a teak monitor with, nearby, metal pieces of a lookout.
The beautiful biodiversity that reigns here, with grey sharks, lemon sharks, schools of barracudas, Maori perch, jacks, leopard rays, and sometimes even tiger sharks.
The Two Towers, real coral pinnacles frequented by Porcupinefish, resting on a sandy plateau, come to the surface.

At the edge of the main channel, the Tower of Babel is a pile of old fishing nets and coral blocks, on a shallow sandy slope with seven-finger shells.
The Aquarium is the ideal place for snorkeling, baptisms, explorations, and shallow formations in swarms of damselfish, clownfish in their anemones, surgeon's school, cleaning wrasse, parrotfish, and cowfish.
On this site, a Cessna 172 sank between 6 and 10 meters, near the runway of Tahiti Airport, Faa'a, on April 16, 1995, following an emergency water landing.
On the ocean side, in front of the Papa Whisky beacon that gave the site its name, the reef barrier collapsed forming a semi-circular crater, studded with gorgonians, bighead trevally, bonito, and blacktip sharks.

The Vallée des Ames is a passage from the reef to the channel. In this shallow area, beaten by the surf of the swell, beautiful coral concretions shelter blue damselfishes. The sand slope drops down to 20 meters.
10 minutes from the Taina marina, Les Eboulis, shallow, between the lagoon and the reef, is the ideal place for a night dive among juvenile fish, stonefish, and scorpionfish.
Close to the Punnauia lagoon, immerse yourself in Atlantis, a wide shoal resembling a... a submerged continent, covered with Acropora tables, at a depth of 20 meters!
The Valley of the Rougets, frequented by red soldierfish and moray eels, is a breach in the coral reef tumbling down into the blue. Sometimes lemon sharks come here for a walk.

The Grand Tombant is the gently sloping reef barrier up to 6 meters which falls into a steep wall in an intense blue.
Take to the water on the flat, in the middle of a swarm of sergeant-majors and blue fusiliers, then explore 2 faults, one wide and one narrow, at the St-Etienne Fault.
At the Piton aux Gorgones, you first descend along a drop-off then a coral overhang to finally discover a pinnacle with a diameter of 15 meters, suspended above the blue, covered with gorgonians, at a depth of 25 meters.
In the center of the Baie des Pêcheurs, the plateau aux Tortues, very rich in life, shallow, swept by the movements of the swell, attracts the titanic triggerfish, lionfish, and turtles.

Towards the open sea, this Turtle Plateau becomes a drop-off lined with gorgonians and black coral where leopard rays can be seen.
Dolphins sometimes swim on the way of the boat.
A magnificent landscape awaits you at Les Trois Pitons, with shallows rising to 6, 12, and 20 meters respectively, with the passage of white tip sharks.
Near the Pointe Sapinus, a popular spot for surfers, La Source is a popular spot for its schools of woodcock and napoleons.

At 50 meters from the Pointe des Pêcheurs, the Dérive des Raies Aigles Aigles tachetées (Spotted Eagle Rays Drift) allows seeing... white tip sharks, evolving in the small canyons drawn on the bottom. We finish the walk in the middle of the reefs of the Source.
Stroll in Temaruata, in front of the white sand beach of PK18, in the middle of sandy valleys dotted with coral blocks. In good weather, you will reach the coral reef by crossing a field of seaweed. Exploring the False Paea Pass with outgoing current, you see a narrow and deep fault in the drop-off. The coral reef is studded with large mother-of-pearl, moray eels, turtles and leopard rays.

Others Activities

A visit to the covered market of Papeete, on 2 floors, with its colorful stalls, is one of the first things you do when you arrive. The jewelers offer very beautiful black pearls, so shopping is a must if you have not already bought some on the spot, in the pearl farms during your stays in the islands and atolls.

A festive life awaits you in Tahiti, with bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. Long black sandy beaches provide access to swimming. Surfing in Papara and on the east coast, but also playing golf in Atimaono.
