Dive trip Cabo San Lucas
Stay, Diving holidays in Mexico, in Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas is located on the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, at 2 hours and a half from La Paz.
The underwater topography of dive sites in Cabo San Lucas is composed of reefs,
pinnacles, and walls. The diving area is protected by a marine national park since 1973. One of the best dive sites in Cabo
San Lucas is Land's End, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean in a setting of sands and cliffs. Located in the "Corridor" area, between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, the spots of Santa Maria and Chileno Bay are perfect to learn scuba diving or for snorkeling.
Another must for experienced divers: Gordo Banks, one of the best dive sites in San José del
Cabo. Cabo San Lucas and the nearby town
of San José del Cabo are also excellent starting points for humpback whale
watching between December and April. Up to five species of whales have been identified here! They migrate from the cold Bering Sea in Alaska to the warm
waters of Baja California to feed, mate, and give birth to young calves in
shallower water, safe from predators.

Dive sites
Land's End is a unique dive site where you can see and swim with California sea lions. In the summer, we dive with small manta rays. Land's End also offers the opportunity to discover a wreck, the Nurnberg, which can be explored by all levels of divers. At Pelican Rock, you will discover walls and rock formations full of sea life. This dive site in Cabo San Lucas is quiet and protected, ideal for beginners, night diving, and snorkeling. To see: scorpionfish, schools of snapper, and porcupine fish.
North Wall is a dive site suitable for all levels of diving. It is a slope covered with rocks ranging from 5m to 20m sheltering flute fish, scorpionfish, sea cicadas, and moray eels. In summer, divers who like macro diving can observe seahorses. Middle Wall is a vertiginous drop-off that descends to a depth of more than 150 meters. The rocky cliff continues until it reaches the Pelican Rock Sand Falls.
Neptune's finger consists of two coral reefs. The higher part of the reef is at 5m while the wall drops down to 150m depth. There are turtles, groupers but also manta rays and, if you are lucky, Mola Molas. Between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, there is a diving area called "The Corridor". Located between Santa Maria and Chileno, the dive site Gavilanes offers one of the best coral reefs in Los Cabos. This spot is home to lobsters, angelfish, white tip reef sharks.
Lovers of macro diving will be delighted by the site of Santa Maria, where nudibranchs and flatworms have made their home. Gordo Banks is a famous spot for the observation of numerous pelagic species: hammerhead sharks, mako sharks, manta rays, and even whales. The conditions on this site (currents, depth, visibility) require a confirmed level of diving and a mastery of its equipment. Therefore, many dive centers ask to do a local dive in Cabo San Lucas or The Corridor before exploring this diving spot.
Others Activities
Cabo San Lucas is a lively city with
hotels, bars, restaurants, clubs, a marina, golf courses, and shopping malls. The festive atmosphere is a guarantee for those who want to party in an
American-style. For a quieter atmosphere, in a more authentic style, head to San José del Cabo, a large, typically Mexican town
with small restaurants and craft shops, in a somewhat deserted region.
From Cabo San Lucas, we go to Playa
El Chileno to experience sea kayaking. Of course, snorkeling is also in the
spotlight in Playa Las Viudas and Playa Santa María. Here you can see moray
eels, sea urchins and tropical fish. Jet-skiing, parasailing, and surfing are
also possible in Playa el Tule. You can also admire the beautiful natural arch
Arco de Cabo San Lucas, carved into the rock separating the Gulf of California
from the Pacific Ocean.
