Dive trip Sharm El Sheikh, Red Sea

Stay, Diving holidays in Egypt, in Sharm El Sheikh, Red Sea

Heads of state gather in Sharm-el-Sheikh, located at the tip of the Sinai... And why not you, as Sharm-el-Sheikh is an ideal destination for friends or family? This very pretty town with its white houses, appreciated by the Italians and then by the English who bought secondary villas there and established direct flights, is the most popular seaside resort in Egypt! Naama Bay, a bay lined with a pretty promenade, hotels, and chic cafes, is the tourist center of Sharm-el-Sheikh. Elsewhere, Sharm-el-Sheikh's hotels stretch along the coastline, blocking access to the sea. Each one is located near a House reef, allowing diving access for guests. Beginner divers and underwater photographers, choose your accommodation according to the quality of its House reef for diving from the shore, early morning and late evening, for twilight diving, or for snorkeling.

Technical, deep, and drift divers have a blast in the Blue, along the sheer drop-offs that form the walls of Egypt's best dive spots, Jackson Reef, Woodhouse Reef, Thomas Reef, and Gordon Reef, set in the middle of the Strait of Tiran. Enjoy encounters with dolphins, sharks, schools of barracudas, bigeye trevally, tuna... Ask for a wreck dive on the Kormoran, not far from Tiran Island. And of course, during your diving holiday in Sharm-el-Sheikh, don't miss a day of two or three dives in the very popular Ras Mohammed National Park, which runs along the tip of the Sinai for hundreds of kilometers, an hour and a half sail south of Sharm-el-Sheikh. Bathed in currents, the drop-offs disappear under a thermocline of red anthias, amidst a profusion of purple and white alcyonium and orange gorgonian. Thanks to the protection of the marine environment, groupers, triggerfish, crocodile fish, and blue-spotted rays abound around the Yolanda Reef and Shark Reef.

Thousands of fish are seen from June onwards. PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or SSI divers with a minimum of 20 dives, explore the world's most beautiful wreck, the Thistlegorm. This is a day trip with a supplement, consisting of 2 or 3 dives, and can be booked directly on-site. Do you dream of being away from the hustle and bustle of a resort-like Sharm-el-Sheikh? Then stay at Shark's Bay Village dive resort which has the advantage of offering everything on-site, including diving, and accommodation. ! Enjoy the proximity of the best diving spots in Sharm-el-Sheikh... without the tourists! At Shark's Bay, the dive boats depart from a private pontoon. Night dives, as well as PADI and SSI training, take place on the house reef.

For a pleasant diving holiday in Sharm-el-Sheikh, plan to stay 6 days and 7 nights for even more relaxation! Enjoy the activities and facilities of the following hotels: Coral Sea Aqua Club 4*, Coral Sea Water World Resort 4*, Lido Sharm Hotel 4*, Marina Sharm Hotel 4*, Reef Oasis Beach Resort 5*, Reef Oasis Blue Bay Resort 5*, Siva Sharm Resort & Spa 4*. Dive sites

The destination of Sharm-El-Sheikh is not visited in the same way by Europeans, whether they are French, Italian or German. Nevertheless, a diving holiday in Sharm-El-Sheikh makes sense due to the vastness of the playground. When you arrive in Sharm-El-Sheikh, one of your first objectives is to explore 4 huge mythical reefs, Jackson Reef, Woodhouse Reef, Thomas Reef, and Gordon Reef, grouped together at the entrance to the Straits of Tiran, between the Sinai coast and Tiran Island. Their walls are steep drop-offs to be explored for encounters with dolphins and sometimes white-tip sharks, grey reef sharks, and hammerhead sharks. Driven by well-established currents providing planktonic nutrients for the entire food chain, a pelagic fauna of barracudas, tunas and large jacks come up to hunt from the depths. Wreck dives can be done on the Kormoran, which lies on 12 m, and the Lara, only accessible by teak.

Turtles and eagle rays are often seen here. The local dive sites are commonly visited by the daily dive boats. At Ras Nasrani, Far, Middle and Near Garden, Tower, Ras Um Sid, and Temple, you will swim with small Red Sea fauna such as scorpionfish, groupers, blue-spotted stingrays, scorpionfish, butterflyfish, lionfish, and parrotfish. The must-see dive spot in Sharm-El-Sheikh is undoubtedly the Ras Muhammad National Park, which protects the underwater environment along the 500km coastline of the Sinai Peninsula. Located about 30 km from Sharm-El-Sheikh, it takes about an hour and a half to get there, depending on the weather.

Drained by the current, you will rarely see sharks despite the evocative names of Shark Observatory and Shark Reef. Nevertheless, the Reserve effect is there, with great underwater biodiversity composed of a multitude of white and purple alcyoniums, and orange gorgonians, in sumptuous landscapes of finger-shaped hard corals, tables, elks' horns, and stags. The architecture is ever-changing with drop-offs tumbling into the blue, frequented by jacks and tunas; white sandy beaches colonized by heterocongers; coral gardens with majestic lemon fish, and platax. Occasionally, you will fly over the remains of the wreck of the Yolanda, a cargo ship of which all that remains are the beams covered with alcyonium and white WCs scattered on the sand!

The House reef is also ideal for training in diving with SSI PADI and CMAS certifications. Thus Temple is one of the most popular local dive spots in Sharm-el-Sheikh. A diving holiday in Sharm-el-Sheikh also allows you to explore the best dive sites in the northern Red Sea, with day trips on a daily boat. Some 30 coastal and local dive sites are accessible with sailings varying between 10 and 60 minutes. Ras Nasrani, located 9 km from Naama Bay, is very well known and can be reached by boat or by 4x4. Underwater Naturalist divers enjoy Far Garden, Middle Garden, and Near Garden for the abundant Red Sea fauna. Also visit Ras Um Sid, the magnificent promontory marked by the El Fanar restaurant, overlooking the sea at the entrance to the Straits of Tiran and which gave the name to the very good diving spot of Sharm-el-Sheikh, located below.
