If your dive boat sails north or south of Hurghada, you will not explore the same dive sites. Offshore, around the Giftun Islands, are Hurghada's best dive spots, with turquoise waters accessible to all levels of divers. See a wall of beautiful gorgonians at Police Station and huge coral gardens at Sha'ab Sabina. Beautiful hard corals including Acropora tables and stag horns stretch for hundreds of meters, with schools of Lutjanus, jacks, lemons, and jacks. Try the experience of a lifetime and have a wonderful first dive here.
Carless Reef is the most popular dive site in Hurghada. Imagine two mountains next to each other, sitting on a sandy plateau, 25m deep, drained by the current. Here you will have great encounters with sharks, eagle rays, dolphins, barracudas, tuna, and turtles. The diving area in front of the town and around the Giftun Islands offers beautiful dives, with among other things to see, walls of Gorgonia at Police Station, extensive hard coral gardens in Shaab Sabina (with Acropora table), and the possibility to meet schools of snapper fish, bannerfish, jackfish. The dives are accessible to all training levels.
Carless Reef is a popular dive site in Hurghada and El Gouna areas. It is a shallow coral reef looking like two conjoined mountains, settled on a 25 m deep sandy plateau, where there are sometimes a lot of currents. Sharks, eagle rays, dolphins, barracudas, tuna fish, and turtles are awaiting you in a beautiful decor of hard and soft coral, home to schools of red Anthias fish. Shaab El Erg, aka Dolphin House, is a sheltered horseshoe-shaped reef, home to a colony of spinner and bottlenose dolphins. It is undoubtedly one of the best sports to see and swim with dolphins in Egypt: some beautiful moments to live while diving or snorkeling!
Hurghada is as well the departure point of many liveaboard cruises on the Red Sea, with, among the famous destinations, the strait of Gubal shipwrecks and Brother Islands. The strait of Gubal has many reefs where ships have terminated their life. Among the mythical wrecks in the Red Sea: Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K, and Kimon’s shipwrecks in Abu Nuhas are a must. The World Warships Rosalie Moller and Thistlegorm, nearby Shaab Ali reefs, are also wrecks to explore.
Others Activities
Also, organize a kitesurfing and windsurfing holiday in Hurghada. The Red Sea is also a famous kitesurfing spot with 350 days of wind per year. Many clubs offer courses for all levels. Meet on the big lagoon, flat water, ideal for beginners, with its sandy bottom, around the Magawish islands. The wind blows up to 25 knots all year round. Hurghada is an ideal destination from May to November because of its thermal wind.
Half-day 4×4 excursions are available in the desert to try quad biking, buggy riding, camel riding, and visiting a Bedouin village. The Alysés Diving Centre Hurghada is ideally located at Biwa Beach, a stone's throw from Seqala, the centre of Hurghada. The office with the shop, the equipment room and the compressor room are located not far from the beautiful private beach where a restaurant offers German cuisine. Sylvie welcomes you from 3 pm in her usual good mood in this very French diving centre, created 17 years ago! During your diving trip, you can take a taxi to the boat located 10 minutes from Biwa Beach at 8.30 am. For a small extra charge, depending on the distance between the hotel and the marina, Sylvie can also send you a private car with a driver. Embark on memorable underwater explorations on board the daily boat in the morning at around 8:30 am and lift anchor at around 9 am.
Two dives are scheduled, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Non-diving companions enjoy snorkelling around the reef. The dive sites range from the north to the south with Um Gama Island, through the drift of Police Station, Ras Disha near Abu Hasheesh, while you are underwater, the chef concocts various raw dishes, including fried chicken legs. Alyses Plongée is a small part of France established in Egypt. All the training courses of the French diving federation are proposed to you... even those of the level 4 and the training courses of instructors MF1 and MF2! And of course, for the unconditional globe-trotting divers, SSI courses are also given here. The Ilios Dive Club is located on the private beach of the Steigenberger ALDAU Resort in Hurghada, on the shores of the Red Sea.
