Information
A diving trip to Cadaques, Spain allows you to explore the SS Llanishen wreck, a steam freighter 104 m long and 15 m wide.Built-in 1901, this ship was flying the British flag. On August 8, 1917, during the First World War, the SS Llanishen made a voyage between Savona and Melilla when it was sunk by the German submarine U-33, the Gustav Sieß, 8 miles north of Cabo Creus, Spain.
Severely damaged, the ship was no longer steerable. The captain decides to ground his ship in the small cove of Caials north of Cadaqués. During this episode, 2 crew members disappear in plain sight. The ship was later dynamited because it was blocking traffic in the cove. From the shore, you can reach the remains of the SS Llanishen which lies between 11 and 19 m deep.
