Blackbar triggerfish
Swimming, Snorkeling and Diving to See and Observe the Blackbar triggerfish
The Blackbar triggerfish raises its first dorsal fin locked in the up position when it is in a hole. This prevents it from being pulled out of its den by a predator, especially while it sleeps

Rhinecanthus aculeatus

Rhinecanthus aculeatus, Baliste Picasso, Blackbar triggerfish, White banded triggerfish, White barred triggerfish, Prickly filefish, Lagoon triggerfish, Painted trigger
Food
The Blackbar triggerfish seeks its prey by jostling small blocks of coral and digging in the sand. He throws water on the sediment bottom to flush out crabs, shrimp, starfish and especially sea urchins and all the animalcules buried there. He then ejects the sand filtered through his lids, having kept what was good to feed on.
Breeding
The Blackbar triggerfish reaches its sexual maturity with a size of 8 and 14 cm long. The male has a territory preserved several years in a row, where a few females can be found. These females fix the eggs as soon as they are fertilized, in a sand nest. As soon as they are born, the larvae can see, swim and orient themselves and can even change color to imitate the color of the environment in which they are found.
