The Pantropical Spotted Dolphin can be recognized by its slender, streamlined body and its slender beak. Its livery is dark grey with lighter flanks and belly. When they reach adulthood, dark spots appear as they age. They live along coasts and in the open sea, in tropical and temperate waters around the world.

Food

Pantropical spotted dolphin is found in all tropical seas. It lives along the coastline in open water. It mainly feeds on fish such as mackerel, flying fish, as well as cephalopods and crustaceans.

Breeding

The Pantropical Spotted Dolphin reaches the average age of sexual maturity at 11 years of age. It has no particular season to give birth. Nevertheless, the number of births increases in spring and autumn. The gestation period lasts less than a year. Females give birth to a single newborn every 36 months in the eastern Pacific and about every 48 months near Japan. The lactation period lasts a year and a half.

You are just a stone's throw from the town center, with the night market and the main port of embarkation to the Komodo Islands. Nice beaches are 6 km away, a 20-minute drive by scooter. Open all year round, the Dragon Dive Komodo training center offers PADI courses from Discover Scuba Diver tonight, side-mount and photo diving specialties. Sessions take place either in the pool, on day trips, or onboard the cruise ship. The best thing to do is to stay at the Dragon Dive Komodo as 18 double private rooms of 20 to 30 m2, reserved for divers. They are equipped with a double or twin bed, a private bathroom with hot water, air-conditioning, and laundry service on-site for your personal belongings, either overlooking the pool or the backyard. Breakfast is served in the restaurant around the pool. The bar is a great place to meet and mingle with other guests and enjoy fruit juice, mixology famous cocktails, or a cold Bintang beer on your way back from a day of diving. A meal with Asian and Western specialties is served on-site in the evening. The next morning we depart at 7 am for a full day of 2 to 3 dives in the Komodo National Park. The groups are composed of 4 to 5 divers for more safety and conviviality. The last dive is replaced at your request by a trek to Rinca Island to discover the Komodo dragons. The Gecko Bleu diving school is located in the port of St Gilles, Reunion Island. It is a small structure-based along the west coast of the island. Appointments for sea departures take place at 8.30 am and 11 am in the port of St Gilles, at the Jet Ski premises, next to the restaurant La Voile Blanche. Nearby, many dive sites are accessible to all levels of divers. The Gecko Bleu training school offers first dives and PADI and ANMP courses ranging from Scuba Diver to Master Scuba Diver. Several species of dolphins, as well as humpback whales, live in this area from July to October. Greg, the owner, is passionate about the sea and willingly shares his experience in diving and swimming with cetaceans. He offers snorkeling trips of 3 hours duration, supervised by professionals. These snorkeling trips are organized for 5 to 10 participants and children are accepted from 8 years old. Greg also has a handisport license to welcome disabled people. He also educates divers, snorkelers and snorkelers about the environment by training eco-divers in partnership with Reefcheck. In 2005, Dive Exuma sank a 20m long tugboat to serve as an artificial reef, covered in sponges and corals and home to Nassau groupers, 2m long moray eels, barracuda, blue chromis, and parrotfish.
