Dive trip Lanzarote

Stay, Diving holidays in the Canary Islands, in Lanzarote

A diving holiday in Lanzarote, the island of eternal spring, promises you a change of scenery in this arid volcanic landscape, with beautiful wild beaches, small coves, and huge cliffs.
Lanzarote has kept its wild side thanks to the actions of the artist César Manrique.
With a marine reserve, a national park, and twelve protected natural areas, the authentic beauty of this island is breathtaking, which is why it is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
With sunshine all year round, Lanzarote is an ideal holiday destination as temperatures rarely fall below 17°C in winter and reach 32°C in summer, with the lowest rainfall in Europe.
Puerto del Carmen
is a great place to make great dives along the most spectacular Canarian waterfall, teeming with underwater life.
Depart either from the shore or by boat. You will discover 4 different diving areas from Puerto del Carmen, with lava corridors, caves, arches, and beautiful canyons.

From Playa Blanca, head to Museo Atlántico, the first underwater art museum in Europe, with sculptures made of concrete and serving as artificial reefs. It is also the third-largest museum in the world by the artist Jason de Caires Taylor. In fact, the first exhibition began in 2006 on the Caribbean island of Grenada, and the second began in 2009 near Cancun, Mexico.
Dive also north of Lanzarote in La Graciosa Natural Park, famous for its breathtaking underwater walls and exceptional visibility.

Veril de Playa Chica
, Lanzarote's very popular dive spot, starts in a sandy area and goes up to large submerged cliffs down to 40m. Several different dives are possible. The rock is lined with colorful sponges, orange corals where nudibranchs and big groupers coexist. A small wreck stands out in the blue.
You reach the Cueva de las Gambas, a cave with a multitude of narwhal shrimps. Groupers, lying in wait in the dark, pounce on these easy prey as soon as they are lit by the divers' lamps. Europe has declared this cave a "special conservation site" within the framework of the "Nature 2000" network.

Veril de Fariones
is a site with two facets: on the border of the abyss with passages of tuna, eagle rays, dolphins as well as an area of shallow rocks, covered with multicolored anemones, close to the pier of the Hotel Fariones. As it is a real aquarium, the place is suitable for snorkeling. Also, take your fins, mask and snorkel to Papagayo, a beach at the bottom of a pretty bay with turquoise water and white sand, to see schools of peacock-winged wrasses and parrotfish. Spider crabs hide in the nooks and crannies.
The Cathedral Cave is popular in Lanzarote because the island's most famous animal, a large grouper, has made its home here. A close examination of the walls of this cave with its incredible hidden life will fascinate macro enthusiasts. Along the drop-off, angel sharks (squatina squatina) maraud along the drop-off.

El Ascencor y Puerto Moro allows divers to travel into the bowels of the volcano as you pass through a lava tube as if you were in an elevator, with beautiful plays of light passing through the crevices.
A wildlife dive awaits you at Playa Flamingo, near the dikes. A very bright white sand bottom shelters marbled torpedo rays, angel sharks, and thorny rays that burrow there. Contemplate the large schools of fish including marbled sea bream, barracudas, bugs, and sardines.

Opposite the lighthouse, at Faro de Pechiguera, a pyramid-shaped shoal gushes out of the sand from a depth of 50 m to 20 m below the surface, drained by a strong current, with the passage of pelagic fish.
From Puerto del Carmen, go diving on the island of La Graciosa and especially on La Burrera in a landscape of labyrinths, arches, columns, faults, offering shelter for an abundant fauna and flora. The algae forests have been colonized by sea urchins diadems.

Explore a large rocky cirque at La Roncadera, resembling a large Roman amphitheater, with a beautiful field of red and yellow gorgonians on the steps, with labyrinths, trevallies, and damselflies.
An immense underwater rocky bar stretches out on a white sand bottom for a distance of one kilometer in Veril de las Agujas. It crosses the maritime canal between Lanzarote and La Graciosa. There are several dive sites here, such as El Veril de las Langostas South and North, which are real lobster lodges, and El Veril de las Anclas. You can observe stingrays, Spanish wrasses, groupers and parrots. Find here many old anchors that have been lost.

To finish your trip in Lanzarote, make a trip to the Marine Reserve in Montana Amarilla, in the Chinijo archipelago, to admire the "Yellow Mountain", an emblematic place in the Canary Islands. The color of the rock is due to the volcanic eruption when lava mixed with sea water. The incredible rocky architecture on the surface extends below the surface of the sea.
For your diving holiday in Lanzarote, equip yourself with thick 7mm wetsuits, a hood, and gloves, and most importantly take adjustable fins with booties to walk on the beaches and access the sites from the shore.
