African Dive Adventures
South Africa
- Margate

African Dive Adventures is located in the port of Shelly Beach, KwaZulu Natal, along the east coast of South Africa. Opportunity to dive on Protea Banks, worldwide-known reef for shark diving. Small shop for meeting call at 6:45 am. Then the equipped divers embark on the 3 semi-rigid boats both propelled by two 85 HP Yamaha outboard engines, 10 per boat. Diving briefing before visiting the Protea Banks by experienced and certified SAMSA guides and skippers (South African Maritime Safety Authority). Thorough information on how to interact with Sharks. Pedagogical explanations for eco-tourism. Very invested in the preservation of Protea Banks, coastal reefs and animals such as Sharks, Dolphins and Whales. With the mission to offer every diver the best diving experience on the Banks of Protea.
The boats such as the Black Pearl, the Southern Comfort, the Protea Banks and the Avatar have speed and power to navigate safely in a rough sea. Whenever one of these boats leaves the port, it is entirely refueled at sea for a greater autonomy.
This is especially important on the Sardine Run when divers are on the boat all day far from the coast. It's also nice to have space on the boat to organize Tiger Shark diving and store baits and cables on the deck. Divers can lie down, stack waterproof bags, towels. Snacks on board.

Agulhas Dive center
South Africa
- Umkomaas

Agulhas Dive Center is located in Umkomaas, South Africa. Settled here for 40 years. Warm welcome to Shark diving enthusiasts, on Aliwal reefs in Umkomaas, to divers who come to discover the MS Oceanos and SS Nailsea Meadow shipwrecks (all must have a scooter and correct lighting) and also to the Sardine Run participants (sea festival once a year from June to July). The Sardine Run is a unique encounter between the divers and the annual pelagic fauna that follows the migrations of an incredible school of Sardines, along the beautiful rugged coastline of South Africa. From the top of the hills of Mpame the sea is watched closely a few days before they are supposed to arrive so that you don’t miss the crossing of the Sardine schools. The Sardine Run is an exciting expedition for non-divers too, if they practice freediving. The adventure can be shared by the whole family.
The Agulhas Dive Center takes their divers who take part in the Sardine Run from Wavecrest Lodge in the Eastern Cape, not far from the lodge. The boat leaves at 8:30 am and return at 3 pm everyday. Packed lunches and hot/cold drinks are served on board. When sardines are spotted, depending on whether they move quickly or not, they choose snorkeling or Scuba diving. Other stays can be easily added to your diving holiday, like spending some time in Aliwal Shoal, in Protea Banks, in Cape Town and in the incredible 5 Great Parks of South Africa. You can store your cameras and personal belongings in waterproof containers on board the semi-rigid boats. Possibility of accommodation at the Agulhas House in rooms, with or without fan, in lush tropical gardens with a swimming pool.
