Orang-utan crab

Swim, Snorkel, Dive, See, Meet, Watch the Orang-utan crab

The Orang-utan crab owes its name to the reddish-orange hair covering its body, reminiscent of a monkey's coat. It has long, very slender legs ending in hooked claws. It is often seen in pairs in bubble corals such as Plerogyra sinusoa, inside the torch coral Euphyllia glabrescens and within the crescent coral Euphyllia ancora. During the day, it tends to hide. It is most active at night.

Bastianos Lembeh Dive Resort
Indonesia  - Lembeh Strait -Bitung
English

Bastianos Lembeh Diving Resort is located on the west coast of Lembeh Island, north of Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. The resort overlooks the Lembeh Strait. The transfer by car from the airport or from Manado city center to Bitung harbor takes about 1.5 hours. From Bitung to the Bastianos Resort on Lembeh Island it takes about 15 minutes by boat. On the diving side, during the whole stay, you stay with the same guides and boat crew, because here the owners believe that the good mood on the boats is as important as the diving itself! In a pragmatic way, the supervisors follow the news with the sites you have already explored and those you want to do! Familiar with your equipment, the staff prepares your jacket and regulator on the tank every morning, and then remove them at the end of the day. All your dives are guided by local divemasters who have a great knowledge of animal habits. So make sure before you leave that your camera battery is fully charged so you don't miss anything underwater! The dives last at least 60 minutes, so you can sometimes leave in the rain, come out of the water with nice sunshine and then come back to the center... in the rain! Onboard the boats you can take advantage of rinsing tanks, protective covers to shelter you from the sun or the rain, benches to sit on. In short, you have all the comfort you need to change the battery or adjust the lenses of your camera between 2 dives. The crew serves you water, tea, coffee, fresh fruit and wraps you in a soft towel when you get out of the water. Ashore, a room opening onto the beach is completely dedicated to photographers, with a computer, a beautiful work surface, lockers where everyone stores their belongings for the duration of their stay, electrical outlets, and light.
