Food
The Epaulette shark hunts at night on tropical coastal seabeds and among coral in shallow waters, to a depth of 50m. This shark feeds on small fish, sea worms and crustaceans. It measures up to 1.1m.
Breeding
This species is oviparous, with the female laying two eggs in sacs around every two weeks between August and December. Reproductive season takes place from July to November.

Passing through the Salawati archipelago, Misool is located 165 km from the nearest port and 20 km from the first village, in the very heart of the world's largest marine biodiversity.
This haven of serenity is eco-responsible, created with recuperated wood, without cutting down trees, practicing waste recycling, and with a locally-based staff. Forty guests are accommodated in 8 charming cottages on the edge of the northern lagoon and in 11 villas in the southeast and northeast of the island. Life here is punctuated by sunrises and sunsets. You take your meals in front of a translucent lagoon where you watch the fish.
There is no telephone network. The diving center, on stilts, is suitable for professional photographers and videographers with about 50 m2 dedicated to them for camera maintenance and headlight loading. The lounge with the library is located in the dry area. A huge sunny veranda allows you to relax during the surface interval between the three daily guided dives, including a twilight dive.
Nitrox is available for certified divers. Divers under 15 years of age must contact the center prior to booking. Due to the isolation of the resort, safety being a top priority here, there are no-deco dives, solo or at more than 30 m depth. Your vacation here has a scent of adventure with a pinch of locally produced aloe vera, ginger, and coconut massages. Nice paddle rides are to be tried! [+]

The Meridian Adventure Dive Resort is located in Waisai, Waigeo Island in the Raja Ampat, close to the ferry terminal. It can be reached by taking the ferry (2 hrs).
Composed of a bar and restaurant, swimming pool, sunset deck lounge, and diving club, it has 30 modern and comfortable air-conditioned rooms, each with a double bed or two twin beds. WIFI is available 24 hours a day. There is a flat-screen TV, hairdryer, clock radio, safe and international plugs with 220 volts.

Raja Ampat Biodiversity is an Eco Resort located on Gam Island, in the middle of the Dampier Strait, a short distance from Sorong. You reach Raja Ampat by an internal flight to Sorong, then you board a boat to Wasai and finally to Gam. These cottages are scattered along the beach and are very integrated in the environment. They have been built by local craftsmen using sustainable materials. The Papuan architecture, revealed by the handcrafted furniture and decoration, is full of ingenuity with an air circuit that allows it to circulate freely and avoids air conditioning. A hammock and deckchairs decorate each terrace. You benefit from a water dispenser to avoid plastic bottles of drinking water, a mosquito net, multi-sockets to charge the electronics with two-pin 220V sockets.
Towels are provided. You have running water for the shower, without hot water as it is heated by the sun and the tropical climate makes it unnecessary. Everything has been thought of to reduce the impact of the resort on the environment. Rainwater is collected by gutters that irrigate the garden. Waste is collected in recycling containers. The aluminium cans are resold to Waisai. Food is bought in bulk for cooking. Electricity is supplied by photovoltaic solar energy, by generators running from 4.30 pm to 10.30 pm and by batteries until 5 am. Here, it's a real life lesson to dive eco-responsible! The dive sites are really a compendium of biodiversity and are accessible by short trips ranging from 5 to 15 minutes, within a radius of 12 km.
