Dive trip Atlantic Ocean
Stay, Diving holidays in France, in the cost of the Atlantic Ocean
From the south of Brittany to the Basque coast, via La Rochelle, the Dune du Pilat, the Bassin d'Arcachon and Hendaye, the regions along the Atlantic coast have strong cultural identities. In the image of cultural diversity, this beautiful Atlantic coast allows dives that are all different from each other.
The diving conditions are challenging with cold water and tidal currents. But the density of fauna remains exceptional precisely because of these currents. In order to enjoy your dives fully, you must be particularly well equipped against the cold underwater but also during navigation. When you discover scuba diving in the Atlantic, you are surprised by its walls covered with corynactis, by these schools of pout so compact, but also by the wrecks of which only the propeller shaft and the boilers remain in the middle of the kelp.
Experienced divers will look into the hole to discover these crustaceans in the crevices and which make the reputation of diving in the Atlantic. Beginner divers, immerse yourself in this luxuriant underwater vegetation in the middle of this immense laminaria.

Dive sites
Many ships have run aground on shoals due to the terrible storms on the Atlantic coast. Some wrecks are superb, such as the Peter Sif wreck located at the exit of Lampaul Bay from Ushant Island.
Some beautiful ambiance dives are also to be done from Lampaul, on the wrecks of the Teucer and the Maud, located near the wave-beaten Pointe de Pern. You have to make a detour via Brest to get to the Emile Allard, which used to supply gas to the lighthouses around Dunkirk. It has become a beautiful artificial reef now covered with corynactis where you can see conger eels and lobsters. Also, take a look at the Swansea-Vale, the 77-meter-long coal steamer north of Camaret, which looks like a sheet metal mille-feuille. In the middle of the Douarnenez Bay, accessible from Crozon and Morgat, you can discover the wrecks La Meuse, La Perle, and Le Castel-Meur, which are congress haunts and Saint-Pierre. Stroll above a trawler, the Michel Francois, located between Pointe du Raz and Esquibien.
Each wreck diving at Glénans archipelago offers a surprise. Divers are happy to discover the Notre Dame north of Ile aux Moutons, the Galaxie north of Ile de Penfret, and the Pietro Orseolo. From Lorient and the island of Groix, explore a large submarine, the U171, as well as the Falke - alias the Sperrbrecher 134. Discover a very nice dive in Les Gorets and La Cale, located on the slopes of the "Ile Longue", by crossing very pretty drop-offs rich in crustaceans, gorgonians, and sponges. Not far from there, it is possible to dive at Etel in a river, a very different scenery.
From La Baule, from Pornichet, you discover 3 rocks in the shape of dolmens going up from 14 to 35 meters, on the side of the plateau du Four.
The best dive site in Arcachon is undoubtedly the Galouney, where there are 3 blockhouses separated from each other by a one minute swim. To see: conger eels, lobsters, shrimps. Clusters of mussels cover the walls of the bunkers, which are also entirely covered with mauve, yellow and pink corynactis.
In Saint Jean de Luz and Socoa, macro diving will be in the spotlight with, along the central dike, the Artha, a 250-meter long breakwater closing off the bay of Saint Jean de Luz. Scuba diving in Hendaye allows you to discover the spot Les Ancres, a succession of faults and rocks dotted with ancient anchors located in the middle of the bay of Fontarabie. You can also have the chance to encounter a Mola-mola (sunfish)!
Others Activities
The Atlantic coast has some great surprises in store for sports enthusiasts; discover Bordeaux by canoe, surf on the Basque coast, cycle around the island of Ré... Nature and culture will also be there. The Médoc and the mythical Wine Route, the small oyster ports of the Bay of Arcachon, and the little-known heritage of the island of Oléron.
