Dive trip Bangka, Talise, Gangga
Stay, Diving holidays in Indonesia, on the islands Bangka, Talise, Gangga
Bangka, Talise, and Gangga Islands are located in the north of Sulawesi Island in Indonesia. Around these islands, the Pacific and Indian Oceans, as well as the Sulawesi Sea, carry a large planktonic mass with currents. The result is wonderful biodiversity. These islands are famous for their soft corals. Do not hesitate to make a diving trip to Bangka, Talise, or Gangga Islands in one of the small resorts buried in tropical vegetation and which offers a charming service.
Some dive resorts offer more luxurious comfort than others. Still, most of them are all integrated into an eco-responsible approach, using natural materials found on the island and local labor. From Bangka, Talise, and Gangga Islands, divers can access about 30 dive sites, most of which are macro spots. By positioning yourself in Bangka, you have the chance to be close to some of the best dive sites in North Sulawesi, such as Batu Sauhang and Batu Gosoh.
Diving on Bangka Island allows you to discover world-famous dive sites. It's a very strategic position that allows to go to Talise and Gangga but also to Lembeh Strait and Bunaken Marine Park. The best time for scuba diving vacations on Bangka Island in Indonesia is from June to September, not to be confused with Banka Island (Belitung) off the coast of Sumatra!
Marine species in the area
Dive sites
As in Lembeh Strait, diving in Bangka, Talise, and Gangga Islands allow you to discover incredible creatures such as bargibanti and pontohi pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish, blue-ringed octopus, mimic octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish, harlequin shrimp, nudibranchs, mantis shrimp, porcelain crabs, and orangutan crabs. Although the sites are distributed around the 3 islands, Bangka Island concentrates most of them : To the south, Tanjung Husi 2 has a pass atmosphere with a fairly gentle slope covered with stony coral, which arrives on the sand at 20m where the current is quite strong. We look out for the passage of pelagics. On the way up, we go along a sheltered plateau with schools of batfish. Tanjung Husi 2 is a lovely walk along the shore in 15m of water to do when the sun starts to fall to see the soft corals biting on a gentle slope. To see many yellow and orange toadfish.
We immerse ourselves in open water at Tiga Batu around large rocks almost flush with the surface, like menhirs covered with soft corals, from 25m to 5m deep, and planted on a sandy desert. Further north, at Batu Gosoh 1 and 2, we slide into a field of alcyonarian at 3 m to go around the land point, which extends underwater by a very steep drop dropping down to 40 m see more ...
South of Bangka, along the coast of Sulawesi, divers dive at Paradise Jetty. There, warm water comes from the heart of the earth, from its boiling magma, and emerges as a spring. It can be seen with the naked eye by the troubled water. Most species of hard corals cannot even grow here. Nevertheless, further on, the basaltic rocks, which are the result of volcanic activity in the area, are covered with surprisingly colorful and prolific soft corals.
Tanjung Paradise doesn't look like much as you descend on a black sandy bottom in front of a mini beach. We start the dive by small boulders scattered here and there, sometimes surmounted by a small Acropora table and sometimes by a sponge with a piece of fishing net. Don't be mistaken; an incredibly rare fauna concentrates on the slightest oasis of life. Here a gorgonian seahorse, where a pygmy seahorse hides, there a mimetic octopus comes out of a dark corner...
Batu Mandi is a dive to be earned. We tumble down in front of two rocks just above the surface, 5 m from the coast of Sulawesi. The bubbles released by the divers are reversed so much the current can be strong here. We go along a short drop-off full of life, but it is especially the end of the dive, which is breathtaking in 5m of depth, in the middle of thousands of bunches of golden and purple soft corals.

Snorkeling, paddle, sea kayaking, and bird watching.
