Dive trip El Quseir, Red Sea
Stay, Diving holidays in Egypt, in El Quseir, Red Sea
Would you like a family trip to the land of the pharaohs? A diving holiday in El Quseir would be just the thing for you. Located 139 km from Hurghada airport, this town was built 5000 years ago. El Quseir is one of the oldest cities in Egypt. Its ancient name "Leucus limen", meant the white port. An ancient road led from Quseir to the Nile valley to facilitate the spice trade. Raw materials from Africa and pilgrims to Mecca were transported through the port of El Quseir. Take a stroll through the historical remains of this era. Preserved from mass tourism, the center of El Quseir is lively and authentic with colorful fruit and vegetable stalls, bakeries, mechanic workshops, small drinks shops... In order to better organize your diving stay in El Quseir, you should know that the hotels, including their integrated diving centers, are spread out along the coastal road. Each of them has a piece of fringing reef, the House Reef, in front of its sandy beach, which can be explored by snorkeling and diving from the shore. Beginner divers, take the plunge and do your first dive here.
Practice your diving skills on the House Reef to get your PADI or SSI Open Water Diver certification. Children's diving at El Quseir is suited to the progressive depths of the sea, from the beaches. For advanced divers, night diving allows you to take beautiful underwater photographs. Necessarily adapted to family diving holidays, the hotel you choose determines the quality of your dives, according to the configuration of its House Reef. For example, Flamenco Beach & Resort 4* with its Diving.de dive center, north of Quseir, has a huge reef with a very long pontoon for diving and snorkeling. At the end of the protected bay of El Quadim, the Movenpick Resort El Quseir, with its Extra Divers diving school, is perfectly integrated into the desert environment of the Red Sea. For a one-way trip from far enough away, the RIB boats take you to the northern and southern ends of the House Reef. Rohanou Beach Resort & Ecolodge, with the Wonderful dive, also has a beautiful, bright, scenic reef with a sandy drop-off from which pelagics pass. 30 km south of El Quseir, special mention should be made of the very sheltered House reef Sham Fugani at the Mangrove Bay Resort and its training center Duck's Dive, for its beautiful coral garden. Take a boat to the windy Erg Fugani, a beautiful hard coral spot outside this bay. Have a great encounter at El Quseir as several dugongs are recorded here.
Allow 6 days and 7 nights to enjoy your stay in El Quseir, in the following hotels: Flamenco Beach & Resort 4* north of El Quseir. Dive sites
Your diving holiday in El Quseir starts as soon as you board the plane in Europe to Hurghada or Marsa Alam. As soon as you arrive at one of these Egyptian airports, you will be met by a representative who will hand you your visa. Then the minibus driver will transfer you to your hotel. There, make yourself comfortable and, depending on your arrival time in El Quseir, have dinner on the beach and settle into your room by the pool.
By boat from Mangrove Bay or by minibus from the Movenpick or Flamenco, visit the best spots of El Quseir, Serib Kebir, and Serib Soraya as well as Torfa Lassal North and South, very suitable for cave diving.
Apart from the hotel house reefs, there are fringing reefs along the
coastline that can be accessed from the coastal road. Every gap in the
reef is a potential dive starting point. Climb onto the bench-equipped
platform of a truck, a small tarpaulin truck specially equipped to
transport divers. The diving equipment is then unloaded onto mats
at the side of the road.
The divers prepare themselves quietly and then
walk along the reef to the outer edge of the reef and into the water.
Take along booties with soles and adjustable fins for this type of shore diving. These coral reefs are colonized by the delightful small Red Sea fauna such as triggerfish, parrotfish, crocodile fish, and anthias. Along the coastline, the diving conditions are ideal
with weak to moderate currents and excellent visibility ranging from 25
to 35 meters. Apart from the Brothers Islands, 85 km off the coast,
which are only accessible by liveaboard diving, there are no offshore sites.
On subsequent days, SCUBA divers can opt for 5 days of unlimited diving, between 8 am and 5 pm, departing from the hotel pontoon. Tank and ballast are included in the package. This is the place to go for the PADI or SSI Underwater Naturalism specialty, amongst butterflyfish and coach fish! For CMAS level 1 divers or those with less than 25 logged dives, you will need to choose the 10-dive guided package on the House reef. You will then get the first 3 speedboat trips on the house reef for free. If you wish to go on other dives, you will have to pay a supplement depending on the distance and the type of transport, by minibus, boat, or zodiac. If you have chosen Mangrove Bay, then explore Erg Lassal, a coral-covered pinnacle of fish and anthias.
The remnants of a concretion coral wreck at Balans have been colonized by triggerfish and glassfish. After a long one-hour sail, launch at Torfa Tany to explore a coral garden, then a seagrass bed where turtles frolic. You will often come across a dugong here. Spend the last day in your hotel to rest from your diving holiday in El Quseir, taking advantage of the all-inclusive package. On the last day, your driver will take you back to the airport to fly to Europe. El Quseir is the ideal destination for families, beginner divers, snorkelers, and... those looking for absolute peace and quiet!
